Who it may help
- People who have been given different diagnoses by different clinicians
- People taking several psychiatric medications who wonder whether all are still needed
- People who have tried multiple medications without the expected benefit
- Clinicians who would like a psychiatric opinion on a shared patient
What it involves
The review starts with your history and records: prior evaluations, medication trials with doses and durations, and what happened with each. Dr. Khan considers whether the original diagnosis still fits, what else might explain the symptoms, and which treatment options remain.
Simplifying a regimen, adjusting doses, or trying a different approach are all possible outcomes. So is confirming that the current plan is reasonable.
Consultation or ongoing care
Some reviews are a one-time consultation: you and your existing clinicians receive recommendations, and they continue your care. Others lead into ongoing care with the practice. The arrangement is agreed at the start so responsibilities are clear.
Records help. The more of your history that is available, the more useful the review. Records are requested only with your written permission.
