For adults physically located in Arizona at the time of each visit. Dr. Khan is also licensed in Utah, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois; those states will be added as each is ready.

The approach

Symptoms rarely arrive alone. Sleep, work, relationships, medical history, past treatment and personal goals all shape how a person feels, and what will help.

Many people reach a psychiatrist after a string of brief appointments, several medication trials, or a diagnosis that never quite fit. That pattern usually reflects how care is organized: short visits and heavy caseloads. It says little about the person, or about the clinicians doing their best inside that system.

This practice is built around time to listen and to think. Appointments leave room for history and context. Diagnosis is approached carefully, aiming for diagnostic clarity when possible and naming uncertainty when it remains. Medication is used when it helps, alongside attention to sleep, habits and physical health.

You are a whole world, not a workflow.

How clinical thinking works here

Understand, formulate, plan, reassess.

Psychiatric care is rarely a straight line. New information, treatment response and changes in your life all feed back into the picture.

The cycle of care Four stages arranged around an ellipse, moving clockwise: understand, formulate, plan and reassess, then back to understand. Understand Formulate Plan Reassess
Understand
Your history in your own words, including the details brief visits skip: development, sleep, substances, medical conditions, prior treatment, and what has or has not helped.
Formulate
Weighing competing explanations. Several conditions can look alike, and more than one can be present at once. The aim is a working understanding you can follow, with any uncertainty stated plainly.
Plan
Options explained with their tradeoffs: medication, therapy referral, changes to sleep and routine, or further evaluation. Decisions are made together.
Reassess
Follow-up checks what changed. When the picture shifts, the plan shifts with it.

The stages overlap and repeat. That is how careful psychiatric care usually works.

Dr. Khan earned his medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix and trained in psychiatry at UCLA–Olive View. His clinical background includes inpatient psychiatry, caring for adults across a wide range of psychiatric conditions.

In outpatient practice he works with adults who want a careful evaluation: diagnostic questions, mood and anxiety symptoms, attention concerns, sleep, and the habits and health factors that shape how people feel day to day.

He explains his reasoning, welcomes questions, and makes treatment decisions with his patients. You will see the same physician from your first evaluation through follow-up.

Fit

Who the practice is designed for

Outpatient telepsychiatry suits many people, though not everyone. Being clear about this up front saves time and points people toward the right level of care.

A good fit

  • Adults 18 and older
  • People seeking a thorough evaluation, or a second look at a diagnosis or medication history
  • Stable outpatient concerns, including depression, anxiety, attention, sleep and screen-related difficulties
  • Patients located in a state where the practice is seeing patients, at the time of every visit
  • People comfortable with video visits and private-pay fees

Not the right setting

  • Emergencies and crisis care
  • Situations that need a higher level of care, such as hospitalization or residential or intensive outpatient treatment
  • Prescriptions for controlled substances, including stimulants and benzodiazepines, at this time
  • Evaluations whose main purpose is disability, legal or other documentation
  • Children and adolescents

Dr. Khan is licensed in Arizona, Utah, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. At opening, appointments are planned for patients located in Arizona; other states will be added as each is ready. If you are unsure whether the practice fits your situation, contact the practice.

How care works

Five steps, from first question to follow-up

  1. Check fit

A short eligibility review confirms that your needs and your location match what the practice offers.

  2. Secure intake

Forms and consent are completed in a secure patient portal before the first visit.

  3. Clarity Evaluation

A detailed video assessment with Dr. Khan, typically 75 to 90 minutes.

  4. Review the plan

A working formulation, your options, and the next steps you agree on together.

  5. Follow-up

Ongoing care when it makes sense, or coordination with the clinicians you already see.
